Single screw extruders are the most commonly used type of extruders in plastic processing and extrusion applications. They consist of a single rotating screw housed inside a heated cylindrical barrel. As raw plastic material (usually in the form of pellets, granules, or powder) is fed into the barrel, the rotating screw conveys, melts, and pressurizes the material, forcing it through a shaping die at the end.
